What do you do when your engine is making a mysterious hissing sound? If your anything like Marlene Swart, and Leon Swanepoel don’t check under the hood.
The two were looking for lions in South Africa and the Mirror is reporting that after stopping to speak with other safari-goers they were informed to watch out for the python in the high grass. “We were informed there was a python in the grass,” Swart told the Daily Mail. While the pair was trying to spot the snake, it “sailed out of the grass directly in our direction,” she said.
They pair really wanted to spot a few lions, but they got something just as terrifying.
The 16-foot snaked headed straight for their car, disappearing under the vehicle. After a moment of fear the couple worked up the courage to pop the hood to find the snake curled up on top of their engine.
So they did the only logical thing, shut the hood and drove three miles for help.
Swart, Swanepoel, snake and car all got through the ordeal unharmed, although Swart admits she was “terrified.”
Her biggest regret? not taking more pictures.
