Which animals have it out for you? You will probably be surprised by the answer.
The Washington Post put together a list of the animals most likely to kill you, and the animal at the top of the list isn’t really all that scary. But maybe it should be.
It’s not a shark, alligator, or bear. Those animals on average kill one person a year.
Maybe it’s a venomous snake or a spider? Nope they only kill 6 and 7 people a year respectively. In fact you are more likely to be killed by a cow, which takes out 20 people a year, or the family dog, which kills 28. Yeah a cow is 20 times more lethal than a shark.
The animal at the top of the list? Bees, wasps and hornets, which on average kill 58 people per year.
But frankly it isn’t really likely you will killed by an animal at all. Animal related fatalities only account for about 200 deaths a year. To put that into perspective that’s about .008% of all deaths that happen in a given year.
You are much more likely to die from Heart Disease 611,105 deaths a year, Cancer 584,881 deaths a year, or even an accident 130,557 deaths a year, than from any animal. So visit your doctor, and watch out for falling objects.
